Trusted UK Suppliers
This is not an exhaustive list and currently none of the companies listed knows I have put them here, though I'm sure they won't complain about the free publicity. This list is likely to change and the sites aren't in any specific order, if you wish to check out their websites then click on the pictures.
The Vine Trust Bookshop is a Christian bookshop in Andover, Hampshire, UK.
Lakeside Needlecraft is where I purchase the majority of the threads and fabric I use to stitch samples of my designs. They sell everything you need to create any cross stitch patterns you want to kit up. They sell kits and charts from various designers and they are all high quality. They also have very good customer service and any issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. I have done various patterns from Lakeside Needlecraft and found then easy to follow, even the backstitched designs.
Caterpillar Cross stitch does beginner friendly cross stitch charts and kits. The kits are mostly in cardboard packaging and they are launching a crochet branch soon. I often get a variety of projects from here as I like to sometimes have designs without backstitch or ones I can add the backstitch how I feel as I go and these are perfect for this and are some of the most effective cross stitch only designs I have found.
Bromleys Art Supplies was recommended to me by a family member who gets many of their art supplies from them. They are reasonably priced, sell a mixture of art supply brands for most budgets and you can often find a real bargain here that has been known to undercut the same or similar items on Amazon.
Mad for miniatures is a reasonably priced shop in the Market House in St Austell town centre in Cornwall. They sell a good selection of paints for miniatures, including Vallejo and Army Painter acrylics. They focus primarily on the miniatures for the different Warhammer games but have the books for Dungeons & Dragons and all sorts of Pokémon stock. I am recommending them primarily because I paint miniatures but also because they are an independent business and they had one of the Army Painter colours in stock that is hard to find.
